Hey there friends!

Well for those of you who don’t know I will be leaving my home here in Okinawa to start a new adventure. The has led me to a new ministry where I’ll be serving as a assistant at Franklin Graham Ministries.

Tomorrow I head up to the Sendai area where they are getting ready for the first memorial service since the tsunami and earthquake hit. After that I will be moving to another location where we will be prepping for new out reaches for the 2 years. That’s the plan so far but we will see what the Lord has in store for me and my future. So right now I’m trying finish up my packing, enjoy my family, and the island while I’m still here.

The descion process has been fast but the support from my families has been a huge blessing. The has been and will remain eternally good. Amen.

Hey guys sorry its been so long since my last post. I totally underestimated the business of last semester.

Well I’m back in Oki now. It’s always been a blessing to be back here, my spiritual home in a way.

I have to say I’m very excited and nervous in anticipation for what the Lord has in store for me this new year. Last semester He open so many doors for me to try new things by His strength, which was a lot of work but such a huge blessing.

Well, we finished the first week of classes. This semester I’m teaching the Japanese 1 class, along with the Life of David (1 and 2 Samuel) class. We all were looking pretty exhausted last night. I pray that the Lord would give us strength for the weeks ahead.

Hey y’all,

Sorry these post are coming up so slow. I’m pretty busy with class preparation right now so, please forgive me. I’ll be teaching a couple of classes this semester: 1 Japanese and Life of David. So I’ve been hitting the books pretty hard when we aren’t doing ministry events here on the island. I have to say I’m pretty excited about my life of David class. As I study for it, it’s really opened awesome quite time for me and God to draw near to each other. It really been a huge blessing. But if y’all could pray for my Japanese that would be a big blessing also, because I really wanna share and grow in Christ as I minister to the people here. But often I find the lack of vocabulary a hinderance to fully do that. Other than that this place is a great place for me to really dig into my Rock and become founded in Him.

Hey y’all,

I’m sorry for updating so slowly this past week. I really wanted to up date on the trip but at the moment all I’ve been thinking about lately is my Life of David class that I’ll be teaching this upcoming semester. I’m pretty excited about the class. The more I study the more I look forward to the class.

On another note though I was listening to Jon Courson’s teaching in Judges, titled ‘Chinks in the Armor.’ The teaching goes over the life of Samson. It was really good. Courson’s main points were on being humble. He talks about being accountable, which requires humility and we can’t be humble without humiliation. Accountability he says requires humility to say ‘yes’ to those who you are submitted to whether they are right or not.

Courson also shares about how at the end of Samson’s life he sought after Jesus, not after just the power that He gives. Samson had a problem with the ladies, but purity found him when he had his eyes poked out. Its only when we have purity and devotion to our relationship with Christ that we can have personal fruit in our lives.

Tadaima

I’m back in Okinawa after a good trip to Tohoku. It was pretty overwhelming seeing all the destruction there in the Sendai area. God is good though and the people have been able to make so much progress in the clean up and slowly making progress on the restoration of their homes.

Its sad that when you talk to some people they say there from such and such village but its not there anymore.

Talked with an older couple also who barely survived the tsunami.

Work wise our group was able to tear up the flooring on one building cleaning out the mud and junk the wave brought in, and we we’re also cleaning the house and getting it ready for the carpenters to come in and finish the house.

I’ll post more about the trip as I get the chance.

First Trip

I just wanted to update y’all on my first trip while here in Japan. I’ll be heading up with a group to the Sendai area. We’ll be there helping out for about 10 days. I’m pretty excited about the trip. I heard that we will be hanging out with some other calvary chapel teams; hanging out with kids and working with the Samaritans Purse, while we’re out there.

So we’ll be taking off this friday and getting back the 10th of August.

Other than that we’ve been helping out with a vacation bible school at cc Okinawa. It pretty busy; we have about 100 kids attending the vbs. I’ve been helping out with the Japanese kids’ class, which is really fun and tests your Japanese skills. Some of the kids call me “Yanki,” which is a kind of gangster.

Making time

Now this idea has been my head for a long time now, but not till just recently has it under gone a good “real” change. The idea of having time to do all things that need to be done/quite time with Jesus. These to me, are one in the same.

I’ve been learning, since I got here, that you have to make time to do these things. So in the business of our days we must choose to sit at His feet. I was thinking of the part of the gospel when Jesus is hanging out at Martha and Mary’s house. Martha is getting pulled by things to do in the kitchen while her sister sits at the feet of Jesus. While the service of cooking is such an extremely important job it won’t ever compare to sitting at the feet of Jesus.

Another book which y’all should read is called ‘practicing the presence of God’ by brother Lawrence. In this book brother Lawrence shares how he makes a practice of realizing the presence of God no matter where he is at. This unlocks a huge amount of prayer time and changes how we talk to God, b/c you can speak to Him like He was there when ____ happened today, because…He was.
